Choosing the right tire width

Choosing the right tire width for your rims is crucial for the safety, comfort, and performance of your bicycle. At Laced-Lab, we help you determine the compatible tire widths for your Alexrims rims using a simple method.

How to Determine Rim Size

The first step is to find out the inner rim width of your rim. This information is usually found directly on the rim – for example, in the format "622x30". The first number (30) represents the inner rim width in millimeters, and the second number (622) represents the rim diameter.

If the marking is not legible or you are unsure, you can easily measure the inner rim width yourself. Take a caliper and measure the distance between the two rim bead hooks. This will give you the exact inner rim width.

Using the ETRTO Table

All Alexrims rims are manufactured and tested according to the ETRTO standard (European Tire and Rim Technical Organization). This international standard ensures that tires and rims fit together optimally.

In our workshop section on the website, you will find a compatibility table that shows you which tire widths match your rim's inner width. Simply find your measured or read inner rim width in the table – all compatible tire widths are listed there.

Why the Right Width Matters

Tire width not only affects riding comfort but also the safety and durability of your bicycle. Choosing tires that are too wide or too narrow can lead to damage to the rim and tire and impair the riding experience. With the ETRTO table, you ensure that your tires fit your rims perfectly.
